The Agri-Industry Development & of Manitoba Agriculture and
Food and Rural Initiatives contains the Food Safety Branch, headed by the Chief Veterinary Office,
having the responsibility for food safety, animal health, zoonotic disease
tissues and animal welfare. The Division is also responsible for the Food
Development Center as well as livestock management and veterinary diagnostic
services to Manitoba's beef industry.
The Division is
responsible for market development and market services for this province's
agricultural and food -processing industries including meats. In
cooperation with industry, it provides services for Manitoba businesses and
their foreign-based partners. These services include strengthening and
expanding export markets and identification of new markets. It provides
guidance in moving towards a sustainable, diversified, value-added and
market-driven environment.
